MOBF & Literacy
When children read they improve their thinking skills, expand their curiosity and greatly increase access to resources to explore their interests more deeply. Kids who read regularly acquire wider vocabulary and can imagine experiences and lives far beyond their own. We want to help put books into the hands and homes of children who may not have had the opportunity to own books of their own. Books in the home encourage reading which can make a huge difference in the lives and learning of the children in the schools we serve.
What Sets MOBF Apart
My Own Book is different because we provide children the excitement and delight of browsing through a bookstore to pick up and thumb through a variety of books in an array of genres. The children choose books they will read and use to start their own home libraries. This experience can launch a child into a lifetime of reading, learning and success in the classroom and far beyond into their futures.
